Oregon...that's so 2006...2007 Texas is IN.

Chris and I made it to Texas. It was quite a trip. We had the help of our family and childhood friend Chris J. on the 26th to help us pack…then we were able to stay our last night in Corvallis with two of our greatest friends, Courtney and Andrew. (If you ever get a chance to meet them, please do, you’ll love them.)
DAY 1
We left at 6am, stopped to grab a coffee and headed out. The first few hours it became very obvious how long of a trip this was going to be. Chris realized that we had loaded ALL the heavy stuff on one side of the trailer, and all the light stuff on the other. This meant that the trailer was wagging back and fourth, so he could only travel at the fast speed of 50MPH, which is slow when you are traveling 2400 miles. We made it through the mountains in southern Oregon just fine, it was COLD and ICY and WINDY, but we did it.

Once we were on half way through we were hungry so we stopped in Yreka, CA. I was getting of the exit ramp, and the guy behind me…he HIT ME…..I mean…I was at a stop sign, and he didn’t stop. It’s an exit ramp….you STOP….
LUCKILY for him, and for me, praise the LORD that nothing or no one was injured at all. My car had not one inch of damage, and I felt just fine. (Because I couldn’t see out the back window I didn’t see it coming, so I was fine.)

If that wasn’t enough for my first day of traveling….we were almost to Bakersfield, when right on HWY 99, I hit a TREE…..okay, well it was a tumble weed, but it was the size of my whole car….I was swallowed up by a tree. I sheered off the road, because I couldn’t see a thing, but this tree, and Chris helped me tear it off my car. So let me say we stopped there, we were done for the night.

DAY 2/3/4
All these days were okay, Chris and I now know that there is a pass right before LA, who know? Grapevine? A little misleading of a name. We made it to LA just in time for the traffic….we by passed it through Pasadena…that wasn’t much better. We hit a sand storm after Palm Springs in the pass there….I couldn’t see 5 feet in front of me…it only lasted about 3 minutes, but how scary. We then called our apartment and told them we may be late……they said, well you get here by 5pm on Saturday, or you have to stay in a hotel till Tuesday at noon…

Only driving 50 miles per hour gave us only one choice…..
LOTS AND LOTS OF COFFEE…..no SLEEPING …..

We drive from Blythe, CA to Haltom City Texas only stopping to rest for one hour in Odessa, TX

OUR HOME
Our apartment is so cute, and safe, and BIG…it’s bigger than our house in Albany, OR. It took our cats a few days to get used to it, but they no longer hide in their cage ALL day.

We will post pictures, once I can find the cable that connects to camera to the computer. I have misplaces a few things. We really would enjoy for anyone to come and visit us, we just bought a new extra bed today.
