He's Here!
He's 7lbs. 19.5inches born on Dec . 19th 2008 at 3:53pm (Central....TEXAS time)
For those who want to know more about labor and delivery....here it goes.
Thur. I worked all day long. It was the first day I really wasn't feeling up to par.
Thur night Chris and I walked around Target for 2 hours. He said...."I want to walk that baby out of you." I was actually getting tired, which I never do at Target.
Friday morning I woke up to go to the bathroom at 5:30am and noticed I may have broken my water. I woke Chris up, and called my doctor, the on call Doctor called back, and thought, no....you're fine, you don't need to come in.....after about 3 minute of talking, she changed her mind.
We left our house at 6:20am, I was feeling fine, just lots of fluid everywhere.(a pad/pantiliner, is NOT enough for a water leakage.....I used a towel in the car to sit on.)
Once at the hospital, I was checked out prior to admitance, I was a little worried they would send me home. I was 4cm already. I was checked into my room by about 7:30am.
I was shortly after given pitosen.(sp) in a very small dosage in my IV becuase my contractions were still only about 6 minutes apart, and they needed to be more frequent at this point.
I had NO pain medicine what-so-ever.
By about noon I was really noticing that labor is tough. I was having to move positions very often. I used a workout ball, I walked in the room, I stood, I sat on my hands and knees. I sat up, laid down, everything. I went through back labor. I had not one inch of discomfort in my belly, it was all in my back. (which is odd, since he came out face down. It could be that he twisted with all my moving.)
At about 1pm, I was using every piece of distraction posible. Chris was the key to me getting through each contraction without any pain meds. He was 100% focused on watching my monitor to know when they were coming, so I could rest between each one, and he was ready with some new picture of thing to have me focus on. We did a lot of breathing and counting, so I had to use my fingers and that was very distracting too.
At about 2:45pm, I told the nurse I have to push NOW. She measured me between contractions, and said, yup you are ready. They got me all ready in place and said start pushing. 3 pushes with each contraction, 10 seconds each, hold your breath while you push.
I went through 2 contractions, and she checked me again, and she could see Carter's head in the examination, so she asked me not to push again....I was too good of a pusher...... my doctor wasn't there yet.
I was thinking....really....that's tough. That was so difficult to not push, all I could do was look at the celing and breath. The doctor got there at about 3:25pm. about 4 more contractions, and Carter was out. 3:53.
My labor was very short, atributed to not having any medicine in my system to slow it down.
Chris was the reason I was able to make it through each contraction.
The pushing was actually way easier than the contractions.
You may want to know my first reaction after he was delivered.......I layed my head back and fell asleep. I was so tired I don't remember a ton of the next 10-15 minutes. Chris watched him and photoed many things. He went to the nursery shortly later. Chris watched his first bath, and all the poking they do. Then we all met up in the labor room, and went over to another room, for recovery.
My recovery has been very easy. Still not pain meds. I feel actually okay just a little stiff.
Carter's great.
I am great
Chris is great.
We will be at the hospital until Sunday afternoon.
More pics to come, and more updates too.
