At Chase's 4 month appt. He was soooo tiny. I knew he was small, but he's not growing very fast either. He weighs only 12lbs, 3oz. (3%), his hieght is 24 inches, his head has not grown much...if at all.
Infact, I have to go back into the doctor in a few weeks to remeasure him. Our doctor wasn't super super worried about him, since he's developing well, sitting, moving, rolling, even trying to crawl at this point. If he wasn't doing anything she might be more worried about brain development, but she just wants to remeasure for extra precaustions. I am not really worried, he is just very petiet. He is sooo active too though, and since he is skinny, she recommended we start him on foods. I just wasn't really thinking about that yet, I forgot how fast they grow up. I started Carter on food closer to 6 months, but Chase is such a mover and groover, he is burning more caleries, so he needs extra food.
He has taken to eatting very well, he loves to grab the spoon and put it in his mouth, (remember he's been eatting for 3 days now.) It shouldn't come as a surprise to me how fast he's getting the swallow, spoon thing, since he's doing every other thing quickly. He seems to want to eat more than I give him, so this weekend I am going to make some baby food from sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, and peas. (chris had given be a food processor for Christmas last year for this very reason, so I am exited to start using it!!!)

I'm glad she wants to remeasure just to be sure. Does he gag when you try to feed him cereal? I have a friend whose baby doesn't want anything to do with baby food and she is 8 months. Every baby is SOOOO different. I am sure Chase and Carter are constant reminders of that on a daily basis! He might just be a little baby:) You're not big and Chris isn't huge. Chase's parents are big people! So it would be understandable if Chase wasn't huge. My friend Kalina has two daughters (another on the way). Her 3 year old is itty bitty bitty. And her 14 month old wears the same size clothes and diapers. I bet she weighs less than Esther too.
Esther has always been VERY active, but when she started to crawl she dropped weight like crazy. People were making me nervous about their comments! She has always been a really good eater, so I haven't been worried. I think she would be content if we did away with baby food... I am going to try to push and wait until after nine months, when we start meat.
