Wintery Blast

So for those of you who aren't in Texas. Rest assured, we DO in fact get cold weather. You can't believe the steretype that it's always 80F or more here. (it's close, but not 100%). Monday night DFW was hit with FREEZING rain. It came down so hard and fierce it sounded like metal hitting the house. my the morning we had about 1/2-1 inch ice covered by a little bit of snow. (Chris and Carter both ate it on the ice)
Not only is there ice and snow, but our temps are super low. (I actually don't think I have ever been in this cold of weather.) Tues morning it was about 20, Wed morning it was 9, and our high is about 16.
Wed morning I woke up about 6am, which is much earlier than normal, but I was just checking the news to see what was happening. Around 6:30am we lost power. It was off till about 11am. (With outside temps around 12). I wasn't sure what I would do...I kept hearing it would only be about 15-45 min. (almost 4 hours)... Our house dropped from 76F to 61F in those almost 4 hours. I set a limit at 60. Once our hosue got that cold we were going to load up the car and head somewhere else...maybe starbucks.
Don't worry the kids were playing inside with about 5 layers on. Poor Chase he was taking a nap and could barly roll over he had on so many layers. It really wasn't that bad... I wasn't super worried, just planning ahead. I was just hessitating going anywhere due mostly to the 1/2inch of ice on the ground. I would rather wait at home than venture into conditions I didn't feel 100% certain of... with my kids especially.
My dad and grandparents on the other hand... are trying to fly in this afternoon. (Good timing right.) Visiting Texas and it's way colder than Oregon. Go figure.

I'm glad your heat came on so you didn't have to venture out in the ice and cold. You may use those snowboards yet.

Oh goodness. Yep, we've got snow piled up on the ground here. I've heard you've got it worse than us. Our temps have been around 0, and -11 with the wind chill. Are you guys that cold, too?
I love the pictures of Chase standing at the glass door! Wow, he is going to be an EARLY walker. But watch, I said that about Esther because she started pulling up early, and she didn't start walking until two weeks before her birthday! And didn't really start taking off until a week after he birthday!
We've had rolling black outs, but fortunately haven't had out power off.
Take care,stay warm!
