We are finally all settled in here in Texas. Today Chris and I drove to downtown Dallas to check it out. Man what a big city. I love it. Here are some photos to you can all be right here with us. For those of you in the Northwest....hahaha...look at our gas prices....amazing. I know...
This is also our water tower, I know how odd, but in Texas here, I can literally see about 17 from my window. Each one is a city. So I took a picture of ours.
Also a picture of our grocery store, which is where we buy everything. It is very much like Safeway. The only thing is....our milk here is Texas is on SALE for $3.49......I laughed when I saw that...the man next to me was buying like three gallons. I told him that in Oregon it was regularly almost half that...that's what I thought was funny. Milk and cheese here is crazy expensive. (Chris LOVES cheese, if you didn't know that you don't know him.)
Also here is a picture of our new dining room table and chairs. There are two leaves so it can hold 12 chairs, very comfortable, but we only bought 6, becasue we don't know where we would keep the other 6 for now. It is an IKEA find....I love that place. IKEA is in Frisco, which is about 45 minutes away....but I have to go on a toll road. Can you believe that, they charge you to drive. I thought that was only in movies. Oh, well.....

I love your dining room set! WOW! At first I thought it was a picture of a coffee shop. You have a huge apartment! I can just picture you and all your friends around that table!
Hey Leeneybean...so crazy spendy cheese and milk...yikes...I guess you gotta give and take, at least you can save money in gas on your trips to cheaper grocery stores further away (lol). Our milk here is noramally that price and gas is about 50 cents higher (though it doesn't effect us car-less folks...I LUV the metro system, I get so much done during my 45 minute commute to work in the morning...watch the CNN podcast on my iPod, or read th paper, or catch up on my Portuguese homework...it's great!) I sure hope you guys are enjoying exploring your new home...I've always loved asking around and finding out the unique city traditions, freebie stuff, city websites that give out great info on what to do that weekend, and of course...I gotta find that "hangout spot" - you know, like the beanery on 2nd street in Corvallis...some cute 'lil hole-in-the-wall place that attracts all locals and is a great place to grab a cheap cup of joe, meet up with friends, play cards, and perhaps login to free wifi to check the comments on your blogspot website from yer cuz Carmen :)
Much luv to you and your cheese-lovin' hubby!
Love the apartment Jolene! I sure hope it comes with AC!!! Are you planning on going to any games down there in Texas? Cause they have craaaazy fans! could be an enjoyable activity!
Keep us posted on new events! Loves,Lissa
If you live up in the Plano Frisco area it would be smart to get a toll pass... that way you don't have to pay every time you go on the toll way. The Toll ways up there kind of bother me. There is so much money in the government yet they think they have to charge you to drive on the highway.
It was funny the other day... we had some friends visit from the Metroplex and they were complaining about how much their rent was and how expensive an appartment was in downtown dallas. I wouldn't want them to go to the Bay Area (in ca.) where I grew up. YIKES. They aren't paying THAT much!
YES! Milk is more expensive!! Isn't that odd?!! That was a HUGE shocker for me... I couldn't believe I was and am playing more for a gallon of MILK then I am for a gallon of GAS!
I am so glad you like IKEA. It just shows the kind of person you are:) That's a routine trip we make when we are in the metroplex. There is a place called SAM MOON. It's near IKEA. I've never been... but I've heard you can get crazy cheap jewelry and hand bags. I have heard mixed reviews though but it's a place I want to check out.
Do you Like Bubble Tea? There is a palce in Portland called Bubble Bubble that we love. We foudn a place in Plano off the Toll Way (yes. stupid toll way) that we love. It's called Fat Straws. You gotta try it if you are a bubble tea liker.
Have you been to Cabella's yet? Golly that place is crazy. Chris will like it.
