Well. It's begining to look a lot more like Christmas here in Texas. We are experienceing fog, and cold weather. It's nothing like last year in Oregon, but we do find outselves getting really cold at the 50 below weather.
Looking back on this year, it's more apparent than ever that time really does go by so fast.
It was just last December that Chris and I packed up all our belongings, well everything we didn't sell, and drove to Texas. It was the worst drive we have ever had. For some reason, God allowed us to surrvive that.
Once here in Texas, we moved into our new apartment in January. I started working for Laura Mercier Cosmetics at Nordstrom, and Chris started working for Bank of America.
We had many visitors come see us. It was fun, and sometimes cramped in our apartment. We had aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, parents, and of course new friends.
We immediatly found a great church, and we have met so many new friends. It's night and day different from last year at this time, we spend the begining of 2007 alone, unpacking our apartment. This new years eve we will be with people from our church, what a great group of people.
This summer was our 3 year anniversary, we bought a house, and closed on our anniversary. The cost of living is awesome here in Texas. Our house can hold a plentiful amount of guests now. We got the chance to experience that fullness of that for Thanksgiving. We had 5 extra people stay the night with us, and 11 people here for Thanksgiving. The food was great, and 100% group effort.
Chris also changed jobs this October. He was appraising in Oregon, but we thought that nothing would transfer to Texas, so that's why he started the bank. Well, little did we know, he met someone who wanted Chris to work with him. His hours, and assistence license transfered down to Texas with such ease. Chris is now building up his clients, and meeting soem great people through that too. Chris is also working for a friend from Chruch too, doing logistics. It keeps him busy while he waits for the next appraisal.
(It's so true, girls really do marry men like their fathers.)
As we close this year, it marks our first year in Texas, and there are many neat things to remember, here's a quick list of some things we have had to great opportunity to do:
Dallas World Aquarium, Reaqaint with friends from high school here in Texas, Shop in Dallas, Rangers Baseball games, Nascar races, softball games, Rudy's BBQ, Comedy Clubs, new House, Sitting by a Pool, IKEA, hail storms, hiding in closets, tornadoes, flash floods, Cowboys's games...(GO COWBOYS....I never like football in Oregon, but I guess it's becuase we never had a team to cheer for, now I have the best team in the nation of cheer for...), Trip to Midland, BIG BUGS, and many other things to come.
For this Christmas Chris and I will be at home witha warm cup of cocoa, watching football, and opening up our gifts just the two of us. (By the way, we did buy a real tree, it wasn't $300, like peope thing. It was only $25, and the tag said this tree was grow for you in Salem, Oregon.)
Next year we have many things already planned, continue to check out our blog to keep updated.
So the biggest question we have been asked in 2007 is...."So do you really like Texas?"
The answer is YES!!!!
Have a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year in 2008
